Two weeks after becoming the 2010 APHA World Champion in the Stake Race, Heather Buck, a 19 year old Colorado Springs resident and member of the Black Forest Saddle Club, was seriously injured when her horse tripped and fell while working cattle at the Black Forest Saddle Club.Heather spent the first 2 ½ weeks of her hospitalization in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator and feed through a tube. It was a struggle to keep Heather alive as she had developed life threatening pneumonia. Just recently she was transferred to Critical Care at Penrose St. Francis Hospital where she is slowly responding to her family and starting to talk and respond to the doctors. The BFSC is having a RMQHA Outreach and PAC approved benefit horse show, silent auction and gymkhana on Aug. 14thand 15th at the club arena located at 6460 Old Ranch Road in Black Forest. There will be a full slate of Western and English classes along with gymkhana events to follow on August 15. Down Under Horsemanship™has donated 100 tickets to the Clinton Anderson Walkabout Tour™ which is coming to Denver on October 9th and 10th. Tickets are $40 each and available on a first come first serve basis. All proceeds from the ticket sales, auction and horse show will go to the Buck family to help with their mounting hospital expenses.
August 14 represents the beginning of the 2 day event. The horse show office will open at 8:00 a.m. and the show events will start promptly at 9:00 a.m. This is a 2 judge show with all the classes Outreach and PAC point approved. See below for the showbill* and entry forms.
August 15 will be the gymkhana. The gymkhana office will open at 12 noon and the gymkhana events will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. All events are Outreach and PAC point approved. See below for the showbill* and entry forms.
A silent auction will be taking place both days. Be sure and come and check out the items in the auction both Saturday and Sunday as not all items will be available both days. Please go to the sponsors page and see all the sponsors who have generously given to make this benefit show a success.
